She was born January 15, 1949 in Karachi, and on her parents' emigration attended various schools in U.S.A. and Dalton Junior College (Associate Arts & Associate Science), qualifying as a registered nurse in obstetrics. She married, 1971, Roy Charles Phillips, a purchasing agent for plumbing and electrical supplies, with two sons, Robin Nicholas and Kent Alexander. The marriage was dissolved in 1986.
